STRENGTH IN CONTENTMENT

Scripture Reading - Philippians 4:11-13

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. KJV

These verses show us that there is a direct connection between strength and contentment. We must learn as believers to be content in difficult times. We know it is easy to be content in good times because when things are gong well we typically are happy and our happiness gives us strength. Remember the Holy Bible states in Nehemiah 8:10 that, “The joy of the Lord is your strength”. However during challenging times we must maintain an attitude of contentment by thinking on the goodness of God and our completeness in Christ Jesus. We know trying to keep our mind on the goodness of God during a troubling time is not normal but it is our calling in Christ. Jesus endured the cross in Hebrews 12:2 by pondering the joy of our salvation. Therefore we must endure our cross in this world by considering His Great Salvation provided for us. By thinking on our current salvation and eternal inheritance in Heaven we will be able to rejoice in faith because of what Jesus did for us. Considering our position in Christ we have many good reasons to be glad and give thanks unto God. When we adopt this attitude we become invincible because God Himself strengthens us during the battle. Yes you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you when you choose to operate (abide in) the contentment of Christ. This contentment of God’s peace and joy will definitely strengthen you to overcome any battle you face in this life. Worry and frustration only drain our spiritual power for that reason you must purpose to be content in order to be strong in Lord and in the power of His Might. The consistency of contentment will produce the spiritual strength of God in the Powerful Name of Jesus. Amen!
